Free Sleep Calculator — Find Your Optimal Sleep Schedule
OptiDrop's Sleep Calculator helps you determine the best time to go to bed or wake up based on sleep cycles. Each sleep cycle lasts approximately 90 minutes and includes light sleep, deep sleep, and REM sleep stages. Waking up at the end of a complete cycle (rather than in the middle of one) helps you feel more refreshed and alert throughout the day.
Two Modes for Your Convenience
Use "I want to wake up at" mode if you have a fixed wake-up time and need to know when to go to bed. The calculator shows the 4 best bedtimes that align with complete sleep cycles, working backwards from your wake-up time. Use "I want to fall asleep at" mode if you know when you are going to bed and want to set an alarm for the optimal wake-up time.
Understanding Sleep Cycles
During a typical night, you go through 4 to 6 sleep cycles. Each cycle progresses from light sleep to deep sleep and then to REM (dream) sleep. The first few cycles have more deep sleep, while later cycles have more REM sleep. Both are important for physical recovery and mental function. This calculator recommends times based on 4 to 7 complete cycles (6 to 10.5 hours), accounting for the average 14 minutes it takes to fall asleep.
