Why Track Body Measurements?
The scale does not tell the whole story. Body measurements provide a much more accurate picture of your physical progress, especially when you are building muscle and losing fat simultaneously. While your weight might stay the same, your waist could shrink and your arms could grow — that is positive body recomposition.
Tips for Accurate Measurements
- Measure at the same time of day, ideally in the morning before eating
- Use a flexible, non-stretchable tape measure
- Keep the tape snug but not tight against your skin
- Measure each area at its widest or most prominent point
- For arms and thighs, measure the same side each time (typically the right)
- Take 2-3 measurements and use the average for best accuracy
What the Trend Indicators Mean
Each measurement shows an up or down arrow compared to your previous entry. Green indicates a decrease (positive for waist/hips), while red indicates an increase. For biceps and chest, an increase is often a positive sign of muscle growth. Context matters — consider your goals when interpreting trends.
