Both employee and employer contribute to EPF. Employee contributes 12% of Basic + DA. Employer also contributes 12%, but split: 3.67% goes to EPF and 8.33% goes to EPS (pension). This calculator uses 12% + 3.67% = 15.67% for EPF corpus. Interest is compounded monthly at the rate set by EPFO.
The EPF interest rate is set annually by EPFO. For FY 2023-24, it was 8.25%. The rate is announced each year and can change. Always verify the current rate on the EPFO website before making financial decisions.
