If you claim House Rent Allowance (HRA) exemption under Section 10(13A) of the Income Tax Act, your employer may ask for rent receipts as proof of rent payment. These receipts should show the landlord's name, address, rent amount, and payment period.
If your annual rent exceeds ₹1,00,000, you need to provide your landlord's PAN to your employer. For rent below ₹1,00,000, PAN is not mandatory but receipts are still recommended.
